Welcome to Layman Linux

Hello Readers,
Welcome to Layman Linux.

It has been around eight months since I started Gaurav Live. On Gaurav Live, I discussed things from Technology world & even gave you snippets from my personal life. I also made sure to keep you in touch with the latest from the cricketing world & at times presented you with some self designed Symbian themes. But as you noticed it had a very small section which never grabbed the spotlight. Yes, I am talking about Open Source.

I don’t know the reason behind this but since the inception of Gaurav Live, I always had a wish to start a seperate dedicated site only for discussion of the great Open Source World. I always felt Open Source is a novel concept & every individual should try it once in his life. Adoption is a different ball-game all-together since I am not here to force people into Linux world. Open Source is truly a phenomenon that is engulfing the world. From schools to offices, from computers to your cell phone it has stepped in every arena & has made remarkable achievements. I always thought to contribute to this Open Source world & this site intends to achieve the very same objective. It was a tough ask for me due to shortage of funds & time but finally I am glad to begin. Eventually I made up my mind to start Layman Linux today i.e. on 2nd June 2009. I choose today to start the site since my very first site was also started on 2md of a month & the day then was Tuesday.

Now coming back to the Layman Linux, the site will cover GNU Linux in general along with Fedora & Ubuntu in particular. Layman Linux will have guides with screenshots to assist you in performing various tasks under linux, it will also bring to your notice the latest tools to make your life comfortable in GNU linux. In addition, I will also review the new distros & their testing releases. Last but not least provide you with useful linux commands & useful tips & tricks. All this explained in lucid language i.e. Layman language.

In return, I would like you to spread about Layman Linux between your friends, colleagues, family etc. Alternately you can help by linking me to your blogs, adding my article links on forum & to other social community sites. Not to forget your valuable comments are necessary to keep me motivated & keep up with my good work. After reading this I hope you will return back & stay with me throughout the Linux Journey.
Let the journey begin. Get, Set … Linux

Enjoy Layman Linux :)

Regards,
Gaurav Prabhu
